Vince Herman, Randy Crouch, Charliehorse and friends to play

Print | Arkansas | Tue. March 21st, 2006 | I Love Music, What's up! | Comments/Requests?

(EDIT: We didn’t do a radio show this week, took Spring Break and went on tour.)

I decided to hit the road and see some shows this week for Vince Herman’s Red Dirt tour featuring special guest fiddler Randy Crouch. There won’t be a Tuesday webcast this week (Arkansas Razorbacks women’s sports will air instead), but please check this space on Wednesday afternoon for a possible live webcast with Vince Herman playing acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals; Randy Crouch might come in the studio with his fiddle; and possibly members of Charliehorse from Fayetteville. On Wednesday we will invade KXUA and take over the radio station for some on-air pickin’ and grinnin’ and general mayhem, to include a ticket give-away to see these musicians perform at George’s Majestic Lounge [LINK].

Find more hints about Vince in this story from the Honest Tunes music blog.

Thanks for your support of independent roots radio!

Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Ozarks Red Dirt Tour

Print | Arkansas | Fri. March 10th, 2006 | What's up! | Comments/Requests?

The legendary Vince Herman, front man of Leftover Salmon [LINK] and a favorite friend of Honest Tunes, is on the road spreading his good time pickin’ and foot stompin’ sounds throughout the Red Dirt region, Spring Break range, March 19-22, 2006 run.

Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon) and Daniel Gold (Honest Tunes) discuss Americana music and community radio on KXUA

Spring Break at the University of Arkansas starts at the same time, and the Ozarks are in beautiful spring weather. Vince Herman is a favorite guest on KXUA Honest Tunes Radio, having interviewed and DJ’d on the radio station more than 3 times (including one late-night station take-over which we shall not mention here), and he’s known as an advocate of community radio. On stage playing acoustic guitar in front of folks, Vince has performed with the country’s most renowned musicians and this so-called-solo run will be the spring touring highlight. He’s every bit as much a phenomenal musician as he is reknowned radio personality. The Vince Herman concert is a surefire event for bluegrass, new-grass, jam, Cajun, folk, rock, punk, polka and music lovers of all genres, as well as a solid educatin’ on some Americana music history, which is darn-near what he’d play for you if he could spin all his favorite records on the radio.

Vince Herman solo revisits the road with his trademark energized rootsy, folksy, bluesy pickin style. He consistently delivers a unique, lively and powerful performance full of festival spirit, positive energy, witty humor, warm vocals, rich lyrics, and a touched understanding of the human history of playing music for the love of it. Hope to see y’all at the shows.
