Derek Trucks [LINK] & Yonrico Scott Interview”

ANNOUNCE: interview tonight with DEREK TRUCKS (Allman Brothers Band [LINK]; Phil Lesh [LINK] & Friends; Derek Trucks Band), live on today’s Honest Tunes radio show (Tuesday 1/29/2002). The live cybercast is tonite at 8PM CST. The Derek Trucks Band performs tonite at Dave’s on Dickson, in Fayetteville, AR.

REVIEW: It turned out to be a very entertaining interview, with some fascinating musicology thrown in, as well as Col. Bruce [LINK] Hamptonisms (bellowing!). Both — Derek Trucks (guitar) and Yonrico Scott (drums) — showed up for the interview. Derek talked about Indian classical music, Yonrico talked about Mahalia Jackson and gospel music, and they both talked about DTB’s upcoming studio album (they just signed with Columbia). They also bantered about the term “jamband” and theories of improvisational music, and gave their impressions of the grand-daddy of music in the SouthEast, Col. Bruce.

ANNOUNCE: Col. Bruce Hampton & the Code Talkers will perform Saturday 2/23/2002, at Chester’s Place in Fayetteville (and that Friday, in Little Rock).

“Or sometime in 2002 we got this call/letter”

Daniel - I just talked to you on the phone a few minutes ago about the Austin J Garcia event. We got your www.radio cranked up, thanks for the great jams… I spent 15 years with the Dead, and turned to Panic after Jerry passed. We will support Save Our Streams, keep playin’… See you at the birthday bash or Fiddler’s Green. Thanks Bob and KG
