Celebrating 1 year of @dgold on Twitter, and 9 years hosting Honest Tunes on KXUA. I joined Twitter when it was an offshoot of the podcast site Odeo in April 2008, getting established @dgold before the absolute explosion in popularity of this social network (see Twitter Users chart at left).

I joined the KXUA development team, actually, before the station went on the air (circa 1999), and my first episode of Honest Tunes Radio Show was the first Tuesday after the station went live on the air at the beginning of April 2000. Thanks to everyone who has helped, participated, posted requests & listened to the show in this great decade.

Here’s an early-early hint, I’m already working on something extra cool for the 10th anniversary of Honest FM , in April 2010. A show. It will be in Fayetteville. I hope you can make it.

I hope you can also tune in KXUA next Tuesday April 7th at 8PM for a pre-show Railroad Earth feature show that may include members of the band appearing live on the air to talk and play some Honest Tunes . Members of RRE have appeared twice before on Honest Tunes . I’m in touch with @theRealGrubb bassist Johnny Grubb on Twitter @railroadearth and we’re planning some music and a social media conversation on Honest.FM next week before the Railroad Earth concert at George’s Majestic Lounge. Also follow @RREsetlist for setlist tweets.

Here is a recent review of Railroad Earth live from Honest Tune magazine, the music website descended from the original An Honest Tune that I co-founded in 1997 before starting Honest Tunes Radio Show in 1999.

Here’s a new YouTube I just posted in 2009, based on radio audio and video recordings from 4-20-2007 with Blueground Undergrass on Honest Tunes at KXUA with David Blackmon on fiddle, Rev. Jeff Mosier on banjo, El Buho on trumpet, playing an elegant cover of “Black Muddy River” in tribute to Jerry Garcia… Also on Vimeo under Jerry Garcia Black Muddy River banjo cover by Blueground..

If you like the videos, please post a comment or Rating on YouTube, and I’ll be psyched to keep making more music vids.

OK, these guys are making my 640 pixel YouTubes into a joke!

Check out this HD live video company based in Fayetteville called Flip Fire TV,

    Their website
    http://flipfire.tv

ARTICLE about FlipFire from northwest arkansas times
    http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Business/256088/

    Excerpt from the article:

The company founded by Andy Spellins, 21, and Nic Peavy, 24, has a Web site featuring highdefinition content that went online in February.

FlipFire also has a high-definition video production studio to entice local entertainers to upload original content to the site.

Now, FlipFire’s next phase of Web site development is about to begin. A $20,000 investment in recording equipment gives the entrepreneurs an opportunity to add a new dimension to flipfire.tv.

“We’re going to broadcast live to the Internet with a three-minute delay,” Spellins said, explaining that the latest effort to build up the Web site that will feature performers at George’s Majestic Lounge, a Fayetteville music venue that hosts top regional and national performers.

Can you believe it? Wouldn’t that be awesome, video streams from George’s Majestic. I am looking forward to this. -Daniel Gold

The song that starts Hour #2 is probably the greatest singing I have ever heard in-person, right beside me, at the radio station. Heck, it’s some of the best vocals I have heard in my life. JJ Grey is one of the great soul singers of my generation. This song is from the Mofro radio show in 2004, that was not podcasted before now.

    Everybody’s
So precious and fleeting ? I loved them all ? Time to go ? ? Down the street ? I watch you go ? Like there’s no tomorrow ? Where we know ? ? Cause Everybody’s is gone ? And all the old lamps are burning out ? And all those voices of joy and laughter ? Well them new folks done moved them out ? But if I listen close I can hear them ? Lord they’re calling me to come on ? It’s just a matter of time ? Cause I got nowhere left to call home ? ? I see you waiting ? But I know you won’t understand ? Sand falling on through – through my hands ? ?

    Cause Everybody’s is gone
And all the old lamps are burning out
And all those voices of joy and laughter
Well them new folks done moved them out
But if I listen close I can hear them
Lord they’re calling me to come on
It’s just a matter of time
Cause I got nowhere left to call home
