THE BANDS :
Members of 1 Oz. Jig have appeared on Honest Tunes before. Listen to these earlier podcast mp3 recordings:
We’ve done Mardi Gras / Fat Tuesday / Honest Tune shows nearly every year since KXUA went on-the-air. For example:
- 2001 Honest Tunes Fat Tuesday show
- 2005 Honest Tunes Fat Tuesday with Breaking & Entering live acoustic (podcast mp3 available here!)
- 2006 Honest Tunes Fat Tuesday show
Live acoustic band in the studio tonite will include guitar & trumpet! Tonite I’m presenting a stripped-down version of the Fayetteville band 1 Oz. Jig (one ounce jig). The band has a series of shows coming up in the area. See their Myspace. After the performance live on KXUA at 8pm tonite, they’ll head over to Froggy’s on Dickson Street to play for the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday celebration.
DGold Comes On Early Today: DJ Teo of Interzone Radio offered his shift for me to sub tonite at 6PM. I’ll go on early around 6 o’clock Central time, to start a 4-hour extended Honest FM show featuring the music of Mardi Gras. Artists are likely to include Dr. John, Professor Longhair, and The Meters. Please post your related requests in the Comments here on my radio blog.
Also listen for music from the new Tea Leaf Green release of Josh & Trevor (Live EP comes out today on ThinkIndie), and music (probably):
Listen to the radio show webcast tonight for announcements of upcoming concerts in the Northwest Arkansas area for 2008, and hear new CD’s and classic tracks from the best of eclectic jambands and the full range of Americana roots.
