I put together an extended, 3 to 4 hour music mix will take you for a musical ride in your mind (8PM to Midnight Central Time). Try headphones or sit sonically between computer speakers for full effect. There’s an overall dramatic flow to the playlist that I hope comes across to the broadcast listeners. It is a roller coaster of styles,

  • going across chasms of musical space in big jams >
  • hitting you square with fast-picking and deep with slow grooves >
  • and bringing it together with the songs that have lyrics.

Just got this.. thought you would all like to know.

Sad news–Tim was a great luthier and a nice guy. We’ll all miss him.

    Dan,

Got a message last night from Tom Bertram. Tim Quertermous was found dead
at his home in Little Italy yesterday. It was a heart attack. Tim had been having what he thought was acid reflux and went to a doctor last week
who told him to make an appt w/ a cardiologist. Richard Wise dropped a bass off at Tim’s shop on Saturday for some work and Tim was going home early because he had no energy. Keith Nash (a guitarist in Tom’s band and Tim’s brother-in-law) went to Tim’s home yesterday a.m. after no one could reach him at home or at his shop and found Tim dead on his couch. A tragedy.

Last night I pulled out that electric mandolin that Tim built almost 20 years ago. It’s not only the best playing mandolin I’ve ever touched but also a work of art. Tim was the best. A caring and genuine human being. I was once told that the soul of the luthier and the player reside in an instrument, so that mandolin will be treasured for all my days.

    Jim
