I’ve invited special guests to the radio show for June 12. …. members of Tea Leaf Green will play acoustic
with a special guest from Railroad Earth.

LEAFERS: If you have a question for the band (or a response to the radio show) you can Post a Comment here… looking for interesting fan-questions, anything you want to know about the music. (We ended up asking 2 of the fan-questions: about Can You Guess It?, The Garden sequence, and the “last chance gas station” lyric that appears in Forgiven, Incandescent Devil, and is related to Gasaholic by Trevor and Tea Leaf Green.)

Trevor Garrod from Tea Leaf Green plays acoustic guitar and sings You’ll hear the exact configuration of musicians on the broadcast. This could be one of the most unique acoustic appearances we’ve had on Honest Tunes. I’ll try to record it but it would be great if a Listener could try to capture the webcast as well (Thanks crazyed).

After the radio show, on Tuesday June 12, 2007, Railroad Earth headlines with very special guests Tea Leaf Green returning to George’s Majestic Lounge [LINK] on Dickson Street in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for what promises to be an amazing long night of music. The 2 bands collaborated recently on JamCruise, and at Wakarusa this past weekend (Andy and Tim both jammed with TLG). They are good friends and admirers of one another’s music, despite drawing on different aspects of live rock and roots to craft their unique sounds. RRE is a more acoustic and bluegrass oriented band, while Tea Leaf Green is a louder electric rock band with folk underpinnings. The mixture of the 2 is something to behold, something new and breakthrough.

By the way, Railroad Earth has joined us for an interview on KXUA a couple years ago (watch the Slideshow in the sidebar for pictures of that!). TLG hasn’t been up there yet before 6-12-07, although we spin their CD’s all the time on the radio show and they’ve played at the legendary Chester’s Place and at George’s before.

From crazyed, who recorded the webcast remotely and did a great favor circulating this while I was at Bonnaroo: “Same show just 2 different links if one gives you problems.” (The links are probably cashed out by now, and the same show is available on dgold.info/radio as a podcast mp3, and coming soon to Archive.org [LINK] in FLAC hopefully -DG)

Hey Daniel - So, I work with a panic freak named Stephen Velyvis, who says he has corresponded with you in the past when he had time to follow/talk Panic. Do you remember him? He says hi.

A couple of questions for the band….In the 1/20/05 Cafe Du Nord show, there is an extra verse to Incandescent Devil - where did that verse go? And, there are at least two separate references to a “last chance gas station” - I think in both ID and Forgiven….what’s the meaning behind it?

You can count me locked in….it looks like Tea Leaf will be in the studio tonite (7 EST) prior to their gig and with special guest….

  5. PhiLEAFdelphia Says:

Given the great imagery in many of Trevor’s songs, what percentage of them are written in the oft-heard “man, I had that whole song from lyrics to verse, bridge and chorus all the way down to being on paper in 10 minutes” versus a less speedy “well, I started this one in 1998 and…” manner. Good luck at the big showcase showdown in TN this weekend. See you back east at the Stone Pony in August, if not sooner.

look forward to hearing about tonights show.

I love the way Josh seems to be answering a challenge from the song “Shine On” with his own “Carter Hotel”; both with similar themes but the latter more complex and interesting, with its subtext of lives lived in darkness, but underneath, shining pinpoints clawing their way back to the light.

  29. harman Says:

what a great set with some cool insights and really good recording quality.

any body have the songs as individual mp3s or know of a program that allows you to split up the big file into individual tracks?

  30. Arkansas Says:

Hey Harman, Thanks for posting a comment on my radio blog!

A program that can split mp3 into tracks is “mp3 direct cut”. A nicer program that can split WAV files into tracks (it’s more easy) is “CD Wave”, only problem is you have to convert mp3 to WAV to use this program.

However if you can wait a week or 2, I will be seeding this radio show
in FLAC and mp3 format, already split into tracks, on Archive.org —
if you know about that site, watch the TLG section for the
Fayetteville show. It will have the night concert and also the radio
    show.

  31. profClark Says:

    Daniel,

What’s happening down there in the Arkansas? Hope everything is going well this summer.

My wife and I caught Railroad Earth last night here in Cleveland. They put on a blazing show, highlighted by Seven Story Mountain and a psychedelic I Am A Mess.

I had the chance to share a beer with Tim Carbone after the show. Great guy. I asked him about the Honest Tunes studio show, and he really had a great time with the TLG guys, you and Pho. He also told me how off-the-hook the Hot Dog and Sex sit-in’s were at Wakarusa. Good times.

He’s very pumped about the Mulberry Mountain fest in September. Just wanted to pass along the tidbits from last night.

    Cheers,
    Chris
