PODCAST SETLIST: Interview*, Quickie*, One Fine Color*, Eggs*, Honeymoon Eyes*
THE BANDS:
Ryan Montbleau Trio (Ryan - acoustic guitar and vocals, Matty - bass, Larry - viola) *live at KXUA*
Friday May 11 at 4:30 PM Central on Donny Mambo’s daytime radio show with an interview co-hosted by Dgold from Honest Tunes: Ryan Montbleau Band live acoustic on the radio and webcast!!
several years ago.Ryan Montbleau Band is scheduled to perform Friday May 11, 2007, for the after-Happy Hour set at George’s Majestic Lounge
, followed by Ryan acoustic on the big stage opening for headliner Speakeasy. After that, RMB performs again for the Midnight after-Easy closing set on the bar stage inside. Saturday, May 12, the band stays in town for Dave & Tanya’s wedding (our friends from MOV), and then Ryan Montbleau Band plays the “reception” at George’s, which is effectively closed for a private party unless you’re really coming out for the music, in which case come on in. If you’re hearing this now, I want to invite all friends of Honest Tunes to come out on Saturday for the party show, as well as the regular gig on Friday. See you there both nights.
I’ve never seen Ryan Montbleau before, but I’m really looking forward to a full weekend starting with this radio show. It’s their first time to come near me, but I’ve been listening to their albums for a long time and loving those songs that make me think, relax, and smile.
Ryan Montbleau Band starts the weekend by performing live on KXUA Honest Tunes Radio Show around 4:30 PM Central Time on KXUA 88.3 FM Fayetteville and webcasting live from http://listen.uark.edu/kxua.m3u (Copy/paste into your media player or click the links at the top of my homepage)
This is all taking place as finals wrap-up and everyone celebrates the End of the Semester at the University of Arkansas. It’s going to be a blast.
Hope you can tune in Friday afternoon!
If you’re not familiar with this band yet, Honest Tunes highly recommends their tremendous “One Fine Color” CD which we’ve played all the songs from on this radio show in the months since the album was released. Also check out Ryan Montbleau’s webpage and hear songs by Ryan Montbleau Band on Myspace.
And if you’re making Friends on Myspace be sure to Add Honest Tunes to your Friend list as well (and listen to our new Podcast player on there, left side, full of tunes!).

Absolutely LOVE thier album…. One Fine Color… would seriously rank on my list of best albums of the year that I have heard. I’m going to see them for my first time this Friday & am going to interview Ryan on the radio at 4:30. From what I’ve heard…. He has a great soulful voice & just real good mellow layers of piano, acoustic guitar, cello, etc. in the music. Very tuneful. Easy to listen to. Chill, and would probably be a great band to take a date. So if you go… let me know how it was….

last night’s show was fun. I went with only your recommendation and hearing about 10 seconds of a song on their myspace page. prior to the show I was talking with the drummer a bit and told him how highly you spoke of their new album. So I bought the new album and also bought a live show that I told the drummer to just pick out his favorite show. So I settled in to listen to a band I had never heard, yet I was now the proud owner of 2 of their cds.
i must also say at this time, and for the entirety of the show, the total in attendance…including the owners/staff of the place….was roughly 6. So it was a very laid back almost practice session for them. I appreciated the fact that they still put on a good time and they got a chance to play some new stuff that they might not have been able to play in a bigger setting. All the musicians are talented and the vocals have a fun summery vibe sound to them. I would like to see how they put on a show for a couple hundred to see what kind of energy they put into that crowd as opposed to just hanging out with the handful of last night.
I will sign off saying I give this band a hearty 2 thumbs up and appreciate you recommending them. oh, and good call — i hear a lot of david gray in their tunes, as well as martin sexton, who it appears the singer really likes…as they covered a few of his songs last night…as well as saying he really likes him. chop
