We love Wakarusa Music Festival!! We go nuts on the radio every Tuesday inviting the world to join us at such a great festival because live music is good for our souls. Here's some background with lots of links, articles & mp3's:

Starting in the months before the first Wakarusa in 2004, I got the idea to create a "Wakarusa Preview Radio Show" featuring 2 hours of music entirely by bands scheduled to perform at the festival. With my radio show co-hosts, we announced the roster, promoted the wakarusa.com website address, and played songs by allllllllllll the bands. The show was broadcasted on FM radio in Fayetteville Arkansas & was also webcasted worldwide. I promoted the webcast on various websites including the wakarusa.com Forums and other sites like PanicFreaks, Jambands, Jambase, Honest Tune, and my own blog. Later, I released a "podcast" which is an mp3 of the radio show. The first podcast was streamed by 100's of listeners -- all music lovers.

In 2004, Andy from the Waka Office helped me arrange for a Ticket Give-Away. We gave away 2 tickets to the first Waka, which was an AWESOME prize for our listeners!! (Value $200)

Following Waka 2004, we hosted JJ Grey from MOFRO for an Interview on the radio where I asked him, "How did you enjoy Wakarusa?"

The idea was successful in 2004, so I did it again in 2005. Listenership increased. The brothers from TEAM B from Wakarusa helped me get CD's from all the bands.

In 2006, I did the same idea for the 3rd time. And a 4th time, as we expanded to 4 Hours of coverage before the festival, and 4 more hours after.

After the 2006 festival, we did 2 weeks of Radio Reviews with live music recorded at the festival:

In 2006 and 2007, I additionally produced radio shows for the Waka Winter Classic, battle of the bands. In 2007 I had a live interview on-the-air with Waka Classic Winners, Chilly Moon.

In 2007, I have done the same idea for the 4th year, and expanded the coverage to include more than 7 HOURS OF ALL-WAKARUSA RADIO over the last 5 months leading up to June 7-8-9-10, 2007.

When I am AT THE FESTIVAL, I bring a voice recorder. I set up interviews with bands. Later I use these interview clips on the radio to preview & RE-view Wakarusa. In 2005, I helped host a Blueground Undergass live performance on the on-site radio station of Clinton Lake State Park and Wakarusa along with Tom Speed from Honest Tune Magazine. In 2006, I interviewed The Disco Biscuits and Brothers Past backstage at Waka (2006), and have used the interview on the radio & for quotes in an article. I also interviewed Tea Leaf Green three times at Wakarusa (2004-2005-2006), and I interviewed Beatle Bob (2005).

Several photographer friends have collaborated and provided images including Josh Mintz and Josh Rateliff.

We worked closely with CPJS the Central Plains Jamband Society and HGMN the Homegrown Music Network, as well as HTM Honest Tune Magazine, HTN Hittin' The Note magazine, Jambase, Jambands.com, and Relix Magazine (producers of the Cold Turkey Podcast).

Honest Tunes Wakarusa Radio co-hosts have included Dgold, Phoreal, DJ Jigga, Dalla$, Scooter, Donny Mambo, JJ Grey, Lindsay F., and Tspeed and OG co-host Msaba from Musicphotog.com.

Thanks to all the bands, DJ's, writers, photographers, publicists, volunteers, friends, and fans who make this festival cooperation an annual experience beyond words!!
