Pre-recorded interview segments with David Gilmour (guitarist) and Nick Mason (drummer) from Pink Floyd give added perspective and make this hour plus a radio treat, a fresh look at music which – in Fayetteville – you’ll only hear on KXUA!
Since it’s summer, there are some open shifts at KXUA, and I’ve been filling in when I can to feature new music, that we didn’t have enough hours to include on the regular Tuesday radio program. Many of these special shows on other days include hour-long features or long segments and blocks of songs dedicated to a particular artist, new release, or musical theme. It’s been a great summer for radio diversions. This is another one of those.
Here is more info about the Pink Floyd radio special based on the Pink Floyd DVD “Pulse”, and about the new CD by Los Lonely Boys called “Sacred” -
LOS LONELY BOYS: SACRED
The Garza brothers, Henry, Jojo and Ringo – known professionally as Los Lonely Boys - pre-recorded special one-hour music intensive radio special to celebrate the release of their new CD, Sacred. Showcasing a mix of new songs and fan favorites, the Boys perform live both on stage and in an exclusive studio session. And the electric and the acoustic settings are equally explosive. The Brothers discuss their family roots, spiritual ties and musical influences. The trio also puts the listener right inside the music as it develops, providing an amazing insight into the Los Lonely Boys process and an insiders’ view of their signature “Texican” rock as well as the making of their new album. Sacred, the new Los Lonely Boys CD, was released July 18, 2006.
PULSE: PINK FLOYD LIVE FROM EARL’S COURT
This new 90-minute music intensive special celebrates the release of Pulse by Pink Floyd, released on double-DVD July 11, 2006. Pink Floyd plays some of their biggest classics live, as recorded during a 14-night stand at London’s Earl’s Court in 1994. Band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright recall these performances from Pink Floyd’s last world tour through brand-new, exclusive comments recorded for this special. Floyd’s longtime art director, Storm Thorgerson, also provides rare insights. The new 2-DVD reissue of Pulse features more than four hours of content – the full 1994 concert, the films used as a backdrop during the shows, Pink Floyd’s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1996.
Pulse double-DVD also includes some crowd’s-eye-view shots that might look familiar if you’ve been to Pink Floyd shows, especially if you tried to video tape from the audience. A feature called “Bootlegging The Bootleggers” uses material shot from the audience. In this humorous segment Gilmour reveals how the security guards at the shows confiscated video tapes from audience members filming furtively. The security guards turned the tapes over to the band, who actually used the footage on their DVD! The English are crafty and resourceful like that!
