This is a new release podcast in 2006 made from a radio show webcast interview with New Monsoon in April 2003. It’s interesting to take a look back at the early touring years of New Monsoon, when they had Heath on bass and lead vocals. The podcast includes an introductory interview clip, a half-hour interview with New Monsoon music playing in the background, and a sample of the evening’s concert with a Bob Dylan cover from the encore, Don’t Think Twice.

On Archive.org, I transferred the entire concert recording (New Monsoon live @ Chester’s Place 4-29-2003) for download or streaming in lossless FLAC and mp3 options.

After the radio interview, New Monsoon played this show at Chester’s Place on Dickson Street:

04/29/03 (Tue) Chester’s Place - Fayetteville, AR
Set 1: Lucky Hour, Vickassippi, Trippy Keys, Downstream, F Sharp Jam, Bo’s Blues, Painted Moon > Mountain Air

Set 2: Jungle Strut (Santana), On the Sun, Southern Dew, Paint it Black (Rolling Stones), En Fuego, Calypso, Hot “Lanta (Allman Brothers), E: Don’t Think Twice (Dylan)

New Monsoon Lineup in April 2003: Brian Carey (congas, timbales, percussion), Heath Carlisle (lead vocals, bass, guitar), Bo Carper (acoustic guitar, banjo, dobro), Phil Ferlino (piano, organ, guitar, backing vocals), Jeff Miller (electric guitar, mandolin, backing vocals), Rajiv Parikh (tabla, ghatham, percussion, voice), Marty Ylitalo (drums, didgeridoo)

Notes: En Feugo Tour, Chester’s Place Jam Series hosted by Dgold. Before the show, Rajiv Parikh & Jeff Miller were interviewed by Daniel Gold on KXUA 88.3 FM Honest Tunes radio show.

Dgold commissioned artist friend Cryptical Development to create a colorful poster for the Chester’s Place Jam Series 2003, presented by An Honest Tune. The Jam Series featured three up-and-coming jambands playing fast and loose in a comfortable small club setting. All members of New Monsoon, Sun Cured Red, and Tea Leaf Green [LINK] autographed 5 full-color glossy prints of the frenetic and vibrant poster before rocking the house with full-force music jamming for 3 nights on Dickson Street.
