Start with an HD video embedded from FlipFire.TV (an online video website based right here in Fayetteville! Very cool)
This 720p short-film uses an out-take audio clip (not broadcasted on the radio show) from the Josh Clark interview synched with images of Tea Leaf Green’s concert, Josh Clark & Daniel Gold’s interview sesh at the Norman Music Festival ’09.
Download the podcast mp3′s above to hear the nearly complete, much longer interview, with 10 additional topics. Still other tidbits from the interview are interspersed around the website. If you’re a completist feel free to inquire with Dgold.

Josh Clark is trapped inside your monitor, looking out at you! Desktop Background Wallpaper size available now too

Click here to get a desktop wallpaper size 1440x pixels wide Josh Clark Tea Leaf Green background dimmed-down version of the above photo. It kind of looks like Josh is in your laptop.
One hour of the show will be a Tea Leaf Green Feature with Josh Clark quotes > Each song he talks about, to be played. Including Baseball (used to have lyrics based on the Bad News Bears), Honey Brown Guitar & Cherry Red Guitar, Without A Broom, Soldiers Of Kentucky (rare new instrumental tune).

Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green, guitar) interview with D. Gold (Honest FM radio) 4-25-09 about Honey Brown guitar, Cherry Red guitar, Broom, Baseball, Soldiers of Kentucky, more topics

Downloadable mp3 interview clips ADDED. Possible YouTube video coming. FlipFire ADDED.

More pictures from Norman Music Festival and the Josh Clark TLG interview:

Lead guitar player Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green) is back on Gibson Firebird, saying he did not want to risk his Booch guitar on the airlines

ENCORE: What will they play???
This week I’m celebrating 2 anniversaries:

Total Estimated Number of Twitter Users 2009 popularity explosion
Celebrating 1 year of @dgold on Twitter, and 9 years hosting Honest Tunes on KXUA. I joined Twitter when it was an offshoot of the podcast site Odeo in April 2008, getting established @dgold before the absolute explosion in popularity of this social network (see Twitter Users chart at left).
I joined the KXUA development team, actually, before the station went on the air (circa 1999), and my first episode of Honest Tunes Radio Show was the first Tuesday after the station went live on the air at the beginning of April 2000. Thanks to everyone who has helped, participated, posted requests & listened to the show in this great decade.
Here’s an early-early hint, I’m already working on something extra cool for the 10th anniversary of Honest FM , in April 2010. A show. It will be in Fayetteville. I hope you can make it.
I hope you can also tune in KXUA next Tuesday April 7th at 8PM for a pre-show Railroad Earth feature show that may include members of the band appearing live on the air to talk and play some Honest Tunes . Members of RRE have appeared twice before on Honest Tunes . I’m in touch with @theRealGrubb bassist Johnny Grubb on Twitter @railroadearth and we’re planning some music and a social media conversation on Honest.FM next week before the Railroad Earth concert at George’s Majestic Lounge. Also follow @RREsetlist for setlist tweets.
Here is a recent review of Railroad Earth live from Honest Tune magazine, the music website descended from the original An Honest Tune that I co-founded in 1997 before starting Honest Tunes radio show in 1999.
Here’s a new YouTube I just posted in 2009, based on radio audio and video recordings from 4-20-2007 with Blueground Undergrass on Honest Tunes at KXUA with David Blackmon on fiddle, Rev. Jeff Mosier on banjo, El Buho on trumpet, playing an elegant cover of “Black Muddy River” in tribute to Jerry Garcia… Also on Vimeo under Jerry Garcia Black Muddy River banjo cover by Blueground..

If you like the videos, please post a comment or Rating on YouTube, and I’ll be psyched to keep making more music vids.

Live in-studio performance from members of the Ryan Montbleau Band!
Tanya from MOV and George’s helped me arrange a followup in-studio live acoustic set from Ryan Montbleau Trio this Tuesday 2-10-2009 on KXUA. Ryan Montbleau is back in Arkansas early for a run of concert scheduled this Wednesday in Little Rock at Stickyz and this Thursday at George’s Majestic Lounge back up here on the hill in Fayetteville. Tune in Tuesday only on Honest Tunes Radio to hear the band work out some acoustic material, and you’ll get a chance to win tickets to their upcoming show.
The last time Ryan Montbleau played Honest Tunes radio, we recorded a 4-song podcast and a Quickie video that is still available on my radio blog in the Ryan Montbleau Band 5-11-2007 podcast. RMB has become more popular in Fayetteville since playing a few shows here with their unique, catchy, soulful, sometimes brokenhearted but always positive feeling music.

Michael Houser
January 6, 1962 – August 10, 2002
Tune in for a birthday celebration of the music of Michael Houser. The show will be both a marathon of music (jam packing as much music into the time slot as possible), and will feature some jams that could be called Marathon Mike because he solos so relentlessly.
The broadcast is on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 8PM Central Time on KXUA Fayetteville and Honest.FM

Mikey's Lightnin' old school drawing by Dgold

There will be a mix of pretty instrumental songs (like A of D, Happy Child and West Virginia), and a few classic Widespread Panic live centerpieces (Airplane > Jam, Impossible > Jam, Pigeons). It’s not all jams though, this show is focused on song-writing and the meanings behind Mike’s songs, which are often about his family, or the life of the everyman (Song In My Heart, Postcard, Porch Song).
Many of the songs will have Houser singing, some feature vocalists Danny Hutchens (Bloodkin), Vic Chesnutt (Brute), John Bell (Widespread Panic), Jerry Joseph (Jackmormons). Houser plays on the majority of the tracks, but a couple tracks are songs that he cited as his influences (Yes, and Black Sabbath)
The highlight of the program is a rare, never-before-heard remix of 2 studio demos: Mike Houser singing “Humpy Galumpy” in the studio matched up with an earlier instrumental version of Humpy Galumpy, that only came to light on January 1st of this year (and I remixed the tracks together for continuity myself last night, for the radio show listeners).

Thanks Mikey sticker from the Houser Aspen Shrine

Tune in Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 8PM Central Time on KXUA! Happy Birthday Houser. Miss you Mikey.
Check back here later for more info, song list, pictures, new rare Widesrpead Panic mp3 download remix of Humpy Galumpy (following first time played on the radio webcast)

Photo from the 2005 Tiffany Christopher acoustic set on my radio show

Tiffany Christopher and Friends (including for the first time Syd from Sydney’s Emporium on drums!) played last Sunday at Mad Hope 4 Positive Change, a concert and silent auction charity event benefiting Architecture For Humanity (not just building – building better). It was a great show that opened with a charging cover of Brown Sugar! TC addresses this in the interview, and plays one of the quieter songs (In A Caravan, the circus song) that translates so well to the radio studio atmosphere.

Listen to the radio show webcast tonight for announcements of upcoming concerts in the Northwest Arkansas area for 2008, and hear new CD’s and classic tracks from the best of eclectic jambands and the full range of Americana roots.

This is from the “Tubes” source on Grandpuba, the fan-favorite Widespread Panic live archive. I stitched the 3 tracks together to make 1 seamless track, as requested by Panic freak friend CaPino.</itunes:summary>

Widespread Panic Up All Night cover art for the single free mp3 download
On 10-13 click Play In Pop-Up or Download to hear Panic’s new song “Up All Night” here from Honest Tunes or on the band’s homepage audio player. The high-res mp3 was released for free download from livewidespreadpanic on Oct. 15 and is shared here by permission. The single is a preview of WSP’s upcoming new album.
Jojo originated the songwriting of “Up All Night” but JB sings it. There are horns and back-up singers, kind of a Muscle Shoals sound. WSP recorded it in the Bahamas with producer Terry Manning (who has also produced for Al Green – and it shows on this track). This is basically Panic’s first new original song released with Jimmy Herring on lead guitar. It sounds promising for the next album. They decided to release the mp3 for free on any/all websites by permission of the band – that’s pretty cool, and it allows me to include the mp3 with this week’s Honest Tunes Radio Podcast. According to the press release, “The bands intention is to offer the track free for download on all music sites permitting, with no strings attached.” Panic satisfied their recording contract with Sanctuary Records & now they are an independent band again, with their own Widespread Records.

Widespread Panic back-cover art shows the best thing about New Years is the Christmas lights
There’s not a lot of guitar solo here, but you can bet they’ll add that part in concert. Jimmy’s all over the articulation of the melody, with some pretty catchy and comfortable licks, to my ear; I guess he’ll be called on to cover the horn parts later live. There’s some chunky/clunky rhythm guitar from JB that underpins and synchs-up with the horns, keys, and Jimmy’s parts — I like the sound of 2 guitars. I like to hear Jimmy playing like this, more of a Little Feat kind of style instead of a fusion shredder or psychedlic drip. It’s good for the Gulf Coast swagger of this tune. Confidence in laziness, making an art of laid-back assertion. Another reviewer thought it called Van Morrison to mind. -DG</itunes:summary>

If you haven’t heard this show from a decade ago, stream the 2 mp3′s here on my blog (click “Play In Pop-Up” at the top of the post) to hear the epic high peaks of the show:

Widespread Panic with special guests Gov't Mule destroyed the Montgomery Civic Center in 1997
First is Gov’t Mule’s encore, with WSP sitting in, from 7-20-1997, Montgomery Civic Center.
To download the mp3 to your computer, Right-Click, Save As…. where it says “Download” (above)
mule1997-07-20t6-shallbereleased-wsp.mp3
Gov’t Mule (Warren, Matt, Allen) with JB, Houser, Schools, Sunny, Jojo
I Shall Be Released*
I cleaned up the audio a little bit and saved it as 320kbps mp3
        * on the “I Shall Be Released” mp3
        * Listen to HOUSER take a solo from 3:20 to 4:12
        * and then JB sings a verse from 4:12 to 4:47
        * that minute-and-a-half is SO PANIC
        * at 5:19 Warren calls for “Jojo” to take the lead
        * at 6:25 That’s Allen Woody you hear on mandolin. Schools played the bass.
        * at 8:33 JB takes the lead vocals again ~ and changes up the words a bit ~ beautiful. With THIS and the Amazing Grace JB sings later in the night, this is really a peak Sunday show for John Bell.
Next – Here is WSP’s post-Drums in second set, with Gov’t Mule sitting in, from Sunday 7-20-1997, Montgomery.
Right-Click, Save As…. and you’ll get the file,
wsp1997-07-20-with-govt-mule.mp3
Widespread Panic with Gov’t Mule (Allen Woody on mandolin, Matt Abts on timbales, Warren Haynes on guitar)
SUNDAY 7-20-97 Montgomery Civic Center
Nobody’s Fault But Mine* >
Amazing Grace* (!) >
Nobody’s Fault But Mine* (!!) >
Feelin’ Alright*

all on one track ~ 19 minutes
SBD 256kbps mp3
        * 00:27 Warren Haynes, Dave Schools, JB and Mike Houser drop this show into a conversation of blues, starting Nobody’s Fault But Mine which builds up and breaks down, then…
        * 07:11 ….JB’s brief but beautiful Amazing Grace (!) falls perfectly back into…
        * 08:01 to 09:16 ….an apocalyptic ending jam (!!) for Nobody’s Fault But Mine, with Nance / Sunny / Abts thunder roll into a devestating dual layered lead from Haynes and Houser.
        * 09:32 jam into Feelin’ Alright
        * 16:32 The dual lead guitar peak is back towards the climax of Feelin’ Alright.
        * 18:27 The whole ending is just epic with everyone on at once… cathartic
By this point in the show the 2 bands had virtually destroyed Mongomery Civic Center. 10 Years Later, in 2007 the city of Montgomery actually undertook tearing down part of the building, which is the basis of the animated GIF file I made to illustrate this post.
If you want to know why, or what I like about WSP and Mule and the way they combined older music in new ways for some of the most exciting concerts of the 1990′s, just listen to these mp3 examples. –Dgold</itunes:summary>
